Points & Quadrants Workspace
Click on the graph to place points or type exact coordinates below (Max 6 points).Coordinate Analysis: Point A(3, 4)
Both x and y are positive (+, +), so the point lies in the top-right Quadrant I.
Understanding Class 10 Coordinate Geometry & Graphs
1. Cartesian Coordinates & Quadrants
The coordinate plane is divided into 4 quadrants by the perpendicular X-axis (y = 0) and Y-axis (x = 0). Point signs determine placement: Q1(+, +), Q2(β, +), Q3(β, β), and Q4(+, β).
2. Distance & Section Formulas
Distance d = β[(xβ β xβ)Β² + (yβ β yβ)Β²] applies the Pythagorean Theorem. The Section Formula finds point P dividing segment AB in the internal ratio AP : PB = m : n.
3. Pair of Linear Equations (Consistency)
Ratio criteria: aβ/aβ β bβ/bβ yields Intersecting lines (1 unique solution). aβ/aβ = bβ/bβ β cβ/cβ yields Parallel lines (No solution). aβ/aβ = bβ/bβ = cβ/cβ yields Coincident lines (Infinitely many solutions).
4. Quadratic Parabola & Discriminant
The curve y = axΒ² + bx + c forms a parabola. Discriminant D = bΒ² β 4ac determines whether the parabola cuts the X-axis at two points (D > 0), touches at one point (D = 0), or floats (D < 0).
